The New Link Look

Captured in Christchurch this morning was the new look Link scheme on Air Nelson's Bombarider Q300 ZK-NEQ... I quite like it. Thanks to NZAV8A for the pics!

  1. The Fern looks to be in the wrong place, compared with previous new fern livery's on other aircraft. The koru is to small also, just my 50 cents worth!

  3. I'm surprised they have repainted the Dash given that they will probably be phased out over the next few years.

The consensus is that the regional fleet will be all Mount Cook ATRs with crew bases in AA,WN and CH.

    1. I'd be interested to know your source(s) on this. True there has been a stated desire to standardise on one type but I don't think anyone has suggested it would be exclusively under Mt Cook. There are numerous employment related hurdles to that happening. In any case the Dash fleet still has a fair bit of utility left. I'd be surprised if you saw the back of the dash fleet anytime within the next 5 years, and the costs of a paint job can easily be amortised over a 5 year period. Air NZ will ascribe a certain marketing value to having their fleet look consistent from the smallest to the largest anyway.

    2. Good point, I stand corrected. What I meant to say was that in time the fleet will probably consolidate to all ATR (not necessarily all operated by the same operator).

  4. If that happens there will a lot of regional closures... and/or a new wave of regional airlines

  5. The regional ports will still be serviced as they are now.

There just wont be any crew based in the provinces.

  7. Regos NEQ to NFI will be getting the livery like NEQ here on this board. Nea onwards will go to Australia upon their next C check for a complete repaint. The aircraft such as neq through nfi are only having the tail painted and the white is still orginal. I have been told by our engineers that two aircraft will be all black. But this is still some time away. Nea when it goes will be getting its half life repaint. As for ATR replacements, it has been mooted but not on the radar in the near future.
