Whakatane - Everything Under the Sun

A closer look at Air Chathams' Fairchild Metroliner ZK-CIC that has been painted to reflect its servicing of Whakatane... Unfortunately the weather at Whakatane wasn't as nice as out at White Island where I had spent the afternoon... http://3rdlevelnz.blogspot.co.nz/2015/12/beautiful-new-zealand-3.html

  1. Well done Air Chats for pretty much saving this route...Hope the white tail CV gets the sane vinyl sticker treatment. Im predicting the second Metro and Wellington a new route. Also predicting Timaru losing its Air NZ service and Air Chats picking this route up.

  2. Timaru?? Doubt it. Not in the very near future. Timaru have received a half pie decent Q300 schedule unlike HKK and TUO.

  3. Hey Steve good stuff. While you are on your road trip. What about a visit to the "NAKI" or New Plymouth to be exact..? Check out the pukekura park lights festival before they turn off on the 31st. And get some nice shots of a very beautiful part of this country. .. three roads head up the mountain with the hawera one taking you to Dawsons falls and the Stratford one taking you to the only ski field on the mountain. And while you are there. Check out what exotics are on offer at hawera and Stratford airfields and New Plymouth. Oh and there is a airfield on norfalk rd between Inglewood and Tariki
